Our 9 month old babe

Sweet darling, you are changing soooooooo fast!! You are a JOY to my life, a joy like I knew you would be. You are joy to all of us, Layla.

Sweet baby,  you are become less quiet as each day passes. You adore your brother and sister, and your arms flail as if coming loose from your body every time Ava or Riley walk into the room. They yell at you, and you yell back, and although many would be surprised, I am confident you now have the loudest scream of us all.

You perfected your wave a few weeks ago, a side to side whole hand motion that was one of the most adorable things I thought I had seen; that is, until it changed to a wiggly finger wave, mostly at yourself, so that you could watch in amazement at what those little digits were doing! You are so proud when you wave, and seem to have learned what "hi" means, and that when you hear it, you should wiggle those little things on your hand.

You have also perfected the shy snuggle. It is my current favourite I think. You LOVE your Gramma and Grampa, and your Daddy, but you like to give them a biiiiig smile, eyes bright and smile wide, and let them come a little bit closer, and then quickly bury your face into my shoulder, only to pull it right back out and repeat.

You have started to repeat the sound that we make, mostly the yells. If we do it quiet, you do it quiet, if we do it louder, you do it louder.
You think peekaboo is funny, and you really love to shove your soother (which you refuse to suck on outside of play) into Daddy's mouth. You laugh when he won't take it, and then you shove it right back in again.

You are still pretty stationary. You are sitting up like a champ, but we still put a pillow behind you, because when you get soooooo excited and your whole body rocks, sometimes you lose your balance. You are not doing a lot of rolling, and you have never done too much of it. You are managing being on your belly for longer amounts of time, and you can stretch like nobody's business, but you don't care enough about anything just yet to need to move for it!

My darling, we are still doing the Roots of Empathy program at Harrison School with the kindergarten class, and they just adore you. When we saw the class in January, they hadn't seen you sine early December and they were so amazed with how well you were sitting, how long your hair had gotten, how much it had lightened up, and they loved to hear you laugh and smile.

Sweet baby, you will eat anything that is put infront of you, and it is wonderful. You are particularly fond of peanut butter, cheerios, and smoothie popsicles.

You are getting really good at sitting on the ground and rolling the ball back and forth. You can push the ball, or loop your fingers into the spaces in some balls and then actually throw it in the air. Riley and Ava love to play this game with you.

You now have 3 teeth, two on the bottom and one on the top, and you have figured out how to click your tongue to make a new sound.

You like to throw your body around when we are holding you, and without notice, lean back, or throw yourself to the side with a smile. When music comes on you bounce, and you like to sit beside Ava and throw yourself back into the couch, just like your brother Riley used to do when he was little.

You and I have started to dance a little bit, and I will hold your sweet little hands in mine, and we will dance around in circles and back and forth, and you just love it.

Baby bean, you are becoming a bit of a Mommy's girl and you don't really like it when I get out of sight. My cousin Heather was in town a week or so ago, and I left you with her for about 30 minutes while I went to get Ava from school, with Riley. When we got home, I could hear you screaming from outside, and apparently you kept it going for a good 15 minutes, and you haven't let me out of your sight since.

Layla girl, Mommy loves our Tuesdays. Ava is in school Monday to Friday, and Riley goes to daycare on Tuesdays and we get the day to ourselves, to play pass, to snuggle, to read books and to go for walks.

Darling girl, we have taken you swimming a couple of times, and there are no complaints. You don't seem to adore the water, but you don't make a peep and will stay in as long as we will let you, which is wonderful, because your brother and sister LOOOOVE the water.

We didn't get much snow this winter, but we went up to Manning to find snow, and to Black Mountain where we found some good sledding. You loved being pulled in the sled, and hanging your hand out over the edge to feel the snow. You do NOT like the wind ONE bit, and I hope that subsides, as we live in Agassiz sweet girl, and you're not likely to experience windier days than we have here.

Sweet baby, I am going to ENJOY these next 2.5 months at home with you and soak in all of your smiles, your giggles, and your snuggles.

Love, Mommy
