Miss Layla is 18 months old!

Sweet baby girl, I wish I'd have written you more since you turned one! Man oh man, my darling, you are an ADVENTURE! You are the most full of life, "say" what you mean, full of love, sassy, aggressive, FUN little girl, and you are only 18 months old.
Sweet baby, you are going to keep us on our toes for our ENTIRE lives, of that, we are certain. I am certain you will make us nervous, you will make us proud, you will make us worry, and darling, you will make us just BURST with love.

Layla my love, you are EXPLODING with language. Your favourites right now are, "sit doooooown!" "right there," "keezy" (squeezie), "Bapa" (Grampa) "Daddy" is now meaning Daddy and Riley, so we really have to pay attention to the context!. "Dida" is Ava, I am Mama, or Mahmee if you are being cute. You are pretty close to having "outside" bang on, because you want to be there at all times. You have figured out "football" "ballball" (basketball), and hockey, because your Daddy watches them so much, and darling, you have also figured out, without even trial and error, that Daddy is more likely to put those on for you than you think Mommy is, so you don't even ask Mommy. But the SECOND Daddy gets home, you ask him to "sit dowwwwwn, right there" and then you ask him for football. You are big fan of "nooooo," especially when it is time to get in the bath or to change a dirty diaper; and we can always expect "uh huh" when we ask if you would like something to eat.

You love to brush your teeth and to play with the water in the bathroom sink. You love to put whatever comes your way into the garbage can because it is "ditty," and we have no way of knowing the number of things we have lost forever because they were "ditty." You love to "read" books, but mostly that means you want to flip the pages, throw the book, and then get a new one. You are a big fan of stacking blocks high, and sometimes you even resist the urge to knock them all down when yo see you've built a really high one.
You are a big fan or Sawyer and Mumford, but mostly from afar. You are becoming a puddle jumper and Riley and Ava are teaching you how to look for the biggest and best puddles.
You could spend all day at the park, going up and down the slide, over and over again. You love the swings and are never scared of a good, high under duck.

Sweet baby, you are a fruit LOVER, and are quickly becoming the best eater of our 3 children. You scarf down your food in a hurry and emphatically bang your fingers together asking for more. You spend a lot of time in your high chair and certainly have an appreciation for food - chocolate in particular.

Sweet darling, you just had your first "real" Christmas, although maybe "real" is relative, and you had so much fun. We all crammed in at Gramma and "Bapa's" house and you loved having so much crazy and loud fun with your cousins. You were so happy to sit in the chaos and open up your stocking; to try on your new toque and munch on sweet potato puffs.  You didn't really care about any gift in particular, but you were spoiled my love. On boxing day we went out to Uncle Derran's friends house  and got to see chickens, roosters, mini ponies, and horses, aaaaand you went for your first wagon ride, pulled behind an ATV, as well as an atv ride with Daddy and Ava.

Darling girl, you are a HUGE lover of Gramma and Grampa; and sorry Gramma, but Grampa in particular. He is "Bapa" to you, and we hear you say his name maaaany times a day, regardless of whether we see him or not.
You prefer Grampa to be holding you at ALL times, and don't prefer Grampa to be out of your eye sight at ANY time. When we turn onto Pioneer and have the train tracks in our sight, you are a baby with GPS and you know we are the road that takes us to Bapa's house, regardless of whether we are going to Bapa's house or not. It is a love that is heart melting.

Today you went out with Daddy for a few hours, and he admittedly sometimes misses the days when he could listen to whatever music he wanted in the car, regardless of the language, because you didn't now the words...so the two of you listened to the new Eminem album, and after the first song, you started asking for "more" as you so emphatically do, and he was so confused, and offered you everything under the sun until he tried putting the song on again, and only then were you satisfied.
We went out to Greenpoint today, where it was a beauuuuuutiful snowy day, and on the way home he stopped in a big empty parking lot to do some donuts, as one days with a car full of kids. Darling girl, you SQUEALED with delight and banged your fingers together asking for more, as the rest of us were starting to feel dizzy.

We have had a ridiculous amount of snow over the last week, and we know that we are usually good for one good dump of snow for the season, so we get out in it EVERY second we get. This week we were lucky enough to only have school/daycare ONE day, and to get snow days for all the rest. You began your relationship with snow on unsteady footing (literally),  but you have warmed up slightly and will now walk in it provided it isn't too deep, you will eat the icy snow and icicles, you will sled down a small hill, even while SMILING. You like to be pulled on the sled provided the snow is not deep and you are going fairly quickly and you will even throw a snowball or two.

Sweet darling girl, you are going to be a force to reckoned with, but darling you love SO, SO fiercely, the same way you do all things, and our family is going to be (and already is) so spoiled by fierce love, and what I can only imagine to be fierce loyalty, fierce protection, and fierce friendship.

We love you sweet baby!!
