11 months and so very in love...

As I sat beside you during bathtime tonight, the day before you turn 11 months old, I knew without a second thought that the theme of this last month has been determination and concentration.
My sweet girl, during bath time tonight, a time I look forward to as you are filled with pure joy and pure craziness all at the same time, I watched you discover that you can not, in fact, grab on to water. Over and over I filled up one of your stacking cups with several holes in the bottom, held it in the air to let the water fall back into the tub, and watched your mind try and figure out why you could not catch and hold the water. Yes, that's right, I watched your mind.

That has been the story of this last month for you. You have learned how to take the rings off of your stacker, and put them back on, not yet in the right size order, but pretty cool nonetheless. You can sit for so long trying to put your shapes in their proper slots in your shape sorter and you are so proud of yourself when you manage to get them in the right slot. We also have also provided you with (unknowingly) many other means of figuring out how things work. You like to play with the pieces of your bottle and try and figure out how they go together, and you are so proud when you get the lid on properly. Another favourite is tupperware, you love to put the lids on and take them off, and put them on, and take them off, over and over again.

You have started to play with puzzles and are beginning to figure out that each dent in the board is a spot for a piece, and I think that it won't be long before you have the pieces in the right spots. You love to open and close lids and doors. Since we moved, you are all about closing the doors behind you, but you do tend to get upset when you have closed them SO good that you can't open them back up again. You like to put toys into the little compartment in your walker, and then take it out, and so on.
It is amazing to see your little mind at work, and I am so amazed at the concentration an 11 (ack, 11 months already!) month old can have.

We are learning that, so far, you are not scared of very many things. You love cats and dogs (perhaps because you have been around them), but you are also not afraid of horses and were excited to pet the horse down the street from our new house. You went to your first Fall Fair in Agassiz in September, and you pet goats and sheep, and they did not scare you in the least. We hope that you won't be scared of very many things in your life, but if you are, we hope that you know we will always be right there with you.

You, my darling, have made friends with everyone and everything that you have come into contact with. When you wake up from your naps, you like to say hi to the pictures on the wall, to the teddy bears on your table, to the fan, to the lights, to the fireplace. When we go out in public, to grocery stores, malls, or parks, you are so quick to smile and wave at any person that comes close to you. You make every trip fun, and you bring smiles to so many people's faces, and I am so proud that you are mine, and that I get to see that smile and that wave whenever I want to.
When we go to the park, especially "your" park at our old place in Burnaby, you get so excited the closer that we get. As soon as you are out of your carseat, you give a smile and a wave to your park, as though you have missed it so and are so glad to see it again.

My darling girl, this is our second week in our new place in Chilliwack. We live in a house now, with a little backyard and so much room for you to move around. Even in this short amount of time, we have noticed how much more mobile you are. You like to be held a little less, and you like to be crawling, or furniture surfing all on your own. You start to head for things that we think you know you are to stay away from, and when we save Aaaaavaaaa, you turn and look and then get going faster, with a big smile on your face. Even at only 11 months old you like to be chased, and we will always be here to chase you. You pull yourself up on anything you can, and you have even learned how to drop your bum close to the ground and then let go. We have railings on either side of the stairs here, and you like to walk all the way around and then back again, we think that when you finally learn to walk on your own that you first steps might be sideways!

You have discovered stuffies in the last few weeks (aside from your Panda who you have always loved) and you love to wrestle with them. You throw your little body on top, and bite them and push them all around the room, all while laying on top. Your favourites right now are Louis (the big dog that your Daddy bought for your Mommy many, many years ago), Curious George and the pink bear that your Nana and Papa got you on your first day home from the hospital.

Our darling girl, meal time has become a hurricane of sorts! Food ends up everywhere! On your clothes, on the floor, all over your hands which you promptly rub through your hair, in your ears and in your nose. You love to eat pieces of food yourself and don't always love to be fed mashed food. Often when we get close to your mouth with the spoon you will swat our hand and send the food flying every which way. You have also become quite an expert at all noises that can be made with the mouth, and you like to perfect them at the precise moment you have a mouth full of food. You think that you are very funny, and your Mommy and Daddy do too, but we are learning to supress our smiles in order to make meal time less of a disaster! You still love to eat peanut butter toast, cheesy eggs, and bananas, but you have added tortellini to your list of favourites.

You are so funny Miss Ava, and when you are standing up and music is playing, we will say "dance, dance Ava" and you will rock your wee body up and down. I hope you will love to dance as you get older. You have this adorable little scrunchy face that you have been experimenting with this month and that we have yet to get on camera. You squish your face up, sometimes without even knowing it, and when mommy winks at you, you make the face right back at me.

Since we have moved to Chilliwack, and your Mommy's full time with you is coming to an end, we have tried to see as much of Chilliwack as we can. We have taken a walk up to Bridal Falls, we have done a walk along the Vedder River, done the Corn Maze with your Jason, Lisa, and Lizzie, gone swimming at the big pool at the leisure centre and gone on lots of walks to pet the horses down the road. I hope that you will love living here as much as I did when I was little.

Miss Ava, you are the light of our live, and in these last few weeks we (mostly your Mommy) are soaking up every single thing that you do as your Mommy prepares to go back to work and to take you to daycare 3 days a week, and to your Nana one day a week. It gives me a lump in my throat and a pit in my stomach to think about not seeing you when you wake up from your naps and you're so excited, or any of the other million times a day when I just can not get enough of you. I hope that you do so amazingly so that Mommy doesn't make herself sick with worry!
We love you so much darling girl, and we can not begin to imagine loving anything or anyone else the way that we love  you.
