Layla is 5 months old!
Sweet darling girl, you have been 4 weeks old for a couple of weeks, but it has been a difficult last month, and I am sorry it has taken me so long to write about you! Every few days you do something sweet and amazing and I think, AH! I must write about you! And now, here we are.
Darling girl, you had your first laughs today! Your first real laughs! You were sitting with your Daddy in the rocking chair this morning watching your crazy brother and sister play with a balloon, and we thought you were laughing, but it also sounded on the edge of crying, and we just weren't sure.
Later on in the day we were having dinner at Gramma and Grampas and you were sitting in your swing beside me. Your booties started to fall off and every time I would grab your boot and use a silly voice, you would laugh and laugh.
OK, this post above began on October 14th, and now it is November 2nd, and time has flown and you are FIVE months old, and I am just now writing about you!
Sweet baby girl, you are growing so quickly! Your Mommy has been told more times than I can count how much you look like your Gramma, and although I am not very good at seeing similarities like that, I love that you share that with her.
Darling girl, you are beginning to put everything into your mouth; your fists, my fists, your toys, and your toes. You can grab things if we hold them close to you and you immediately shove them right in.
You are laughing a little bit more and you find it particularly funny when your sister slips and falls, waving her arms and legs around, when she makes funny noises with her mouth, and you love it when your brother throws his bunny up in the air again and again.
You are starting to reach out your hands and put one on each side of our faces, and darling girl, its one of the sweetest things I've ever seen, or felt.
Baby girl, you rolled over twice, from your back to your belly, at Gramma and Grampa's on Thursday and you were oh so proud.Darling you are finding your voice and learning how to communicate. You have this little cough/cry/laugh though that leaves us quite confused. We THINK you are just playing with sound, but are never sure if we should continue what we are doing because you like it, or move because you don't, or to pat your hack because you are choking! Your scream has also reached a new level, but thankfully you have also developed a sweet joyful scream that is oh, so sweet.
You love a good snuggle and could be held all day long. When I hold you sometimes you turn your head sideways so our faces are squished up against each other, and boy oh boy I adore you, Miss Layla. It was a long 6-7 weeks of limited snuggling and holding, and baby girl, I am so glad to have you close again. Today I got to wear you in the ergo carrier for the first time in 2 months and man have I been missing it!

Darling, you are such an easygoing darling. You are ok to be passed around, you love everybody, but always show love in a different way to your family. It is clear who you are comfortable with because you see them often, and who you do not see as regularly. You are not afraid to bring out the quivering lip or the tears and we always save you quickly when you're not comfortable.
Miss Layla, you and I are doing the Roots of Empathy program at Harrison Elementary School, in the kindergarten class. We go in every 3 weeks and visit with the kids. They sing songs to you, they each get to say hello and goodbye to you, and then we talk about how you have changed. The kids love you, and are pretty lucky to have such an easy baby to love and learn from.
Sweet baby, you are baby number three, you are our last and we are so blessed by you. We can to wait to see who you become.
