To our Austy.
Sweet boy, you got in a scuffle at school this week and your Auntie can't stop thinking about you. Darling boy, if I had to describe you I would first say that you are a fierce, competitive little fighter. And then I would say that you are sensitive, unsure, and you are just so thirsty for love.
Sweetheart, I don't know all of the details about your scuffle at school, with boys who are supposed to be your friends, but I do know that you felt scared and that's why you hit one of them, and its that that is making me teary tonight. That you are 6, that you are far more sensitive than anyone at school would ever know and that you felt so scared that you felt like you had to defend yourself.
Let me tell you something Austen- you are one of the best boys that I know. You are surrounded by LOVE, even though sometimes it might not be easy for a boy as sensitive and unsure as you to see it. You have a Mommy and Daddy, Grammas and Grampas, Aunties, Uncles and Cousins, that ADORE you, and would do anything for you, including coming to your school and standing on the playground to make sure those little boys don't mess with you.
There is so much love in your life, and I want to remind you what it looks like. When our Layla smiles at you, and her arms start to wiggle and she sits up a little straighter, she is telling you that she adores you. When our Riley runs around following you, saying "Auty, Auty!" he is telling you that he loves being near you and he really wants you to include him because he is SO desperate for your attention. When our Ava wants to do EVERYTHING with you, including dancing, art, jumping on the trampoline, playing with toys, having you sleep in her room, and on and on and on, she is telling you that you are her best friend, and that anything that she wants to do, she wants you right beside her.
Sweet Austen, your Uncle Brady and I adore you, and we KNOW how much our babies adore you - and you know what that tells us? It tells us that anyone else is crazy not to adore you too.
Sweet boy, please don't ever be afraid to be who you are, to say how you feel, and to tell it like it is. Please don't be afraid to give your love to those who deserve it. Love fiercely Austen, because it's just who you are and you are so darn good at it.
And lastly, don't you let anyone be unkind to you. Ever. Or your Auntie Kelly is going to come and set them straight.
We love you sweetheart.
