Riley boy, you are THREE months old!

Our sweet boy, you are just that. Your sister was all sass and spunk, right from the beginning (in the best kind of way), and so far, you are sweet and chill, perhaps taking a little bit after your Daddy.

Our boy, you are growing like a WEED! I am quite certain that is because you ate every hour and a half to two hours for the first two months of your life. And although you have slowed down a little bit, you still like the extra snacks and snuggle time in the middle of the night. It really pooped your Mommy out for the first couple of months, and really, it still does, but I am getting used to it, and I am beginning to embrace every new and different thing that makes you you.

You are so different from your sister. We thought that this was going to be a breeze because we must have made all of our mistakes on Ava (sorry kiddo!), but it has not quite been that way. We are much slower to worry, to stress out, and to think we are not doing it "right," but the part that your Mommy had not thought about was that you were a new and different baby, and therefore, things were going to be new and different this time around.
Where your sister had a hard time nursing because her Momma was such a rookie and had no idea what she was doing, you are a champ and have no trouble feeding. Every hour sometimes! But where your sister was a dream sleeper from about 8 weeks, you, my sweet boy have dreams only of food and when you are  going to get your next fill!

Your eating and sleeping habits will be the last of the comparisons with your sister, because, lets be honest, what good are comparisons?! You are BOTH AMAZING, and you BOTH make our hearts near EXPLODE!

Riley, March 1st was a huge day for you, and for us! It was the day that you turned 2 months old, the day that your Mommy and Daddy bought our wonderful family our first house, and the day that you spent any time in your crib! Your Daddy and I finally got to hug eachother and hold hands, in what felt like months..until you joined us in bed a few short hours later.
Riley, your Mommy isn't even sure why she kept the bassinet after Ava got into her crib. She never used it, because I liked to have her close, and I'm not sure why I thought it would be any different for you. I like you close too. You have your first stretch of sleep at nighttime in your crip, for about 4 hours, but usually after that you end up in bed with us for the rest of the night. And as far as naps go, we haven't got them sorted yet, and I am indulging in the fact that you and your sister have your big napes at the same time, and I love having you sleep on me for that long nap, plus I get the rest (and sometimes sleep) that I desperately need!

My darling boy, your smile. My goodness, your smile. For the first couple of weeks, it was your Daddy alone that could get you to smile. Whenever I ran to see, the smile would fade- and the second I would walk away, out the smile would come. But Riley, now that you are three months old, you have developed what we can only call a "whole body smile." It is the most adorable thing that I've seen, well, since Ava learned how to do it when she was about your age.
You love whistling, and even smile for your Papa when he whistles to you while you sleep. You seem to have quite ticklish feet, you love to be sung to, and you love to be touched. Your sister is still a little bit too rough with you, albeit all out of love, but when she squeezes your cheeks, or gives you a little wiggle when she hugs you, you are all smiles for her.

Darling boy, you HATE to be in any type of carrier, and we have three different kinds. What we have noticed about you, obviously, is that you like to eat, and if I have you facing in to my chest it frustrates, and even angers you. We have come to learn that if you are faced out (now that your neck is strong enough), then you are happy as a clam, whatever that actually means!

Sweet boy, you are very strong. You have been strengthening those neck muscles from way too young of an age, and you don't love to sit! You like to stand up on our laps and look at us, and have a hard time bending at the waist sometimes and letting us sit you down! You would stand all day long if you could, and sometimes it looks like we could even let you go and you would stay standing.

You spent a lot of time this month with your great grandparents. We took our first trip over to the Island when you were 10 weeks old, and got to meet your Great Nanny. Great Nanny loves your name and fell in love with you quickly. She is 96 years old now and is not as strong as she used to be, so wasn't able to hold you, but Riley, you are so loved by her.
Great Nana and Great Papa came to visit us, and spend Easter weekend with us this year, and boy oh boy do they love you and your sister. Riley Robert, you were named after your Great Papa and your Grandpa, and your Great Papa could not be more proud to share his name with you. He has become a baby hog when you are near, and sometimes Great Nana has to yell at him to at least TURN you her way so that she can see you, if Great Papa is not going to let her hold you!

Riley we LOVE you to bits, and love how the love between you and your sister seems to be coming along. We can not wait to see what is next for you.
